"You can call me speedy"

I've been super busy the past week.  I'm proud to say I've kept my sanity.  Lets get started!!!

First of all, I painted my nails, well kinda, I used those sticker things.  I've seen them before and have always wanted to try them out.  While I was at Sephora on Saturday picking up my fav lip gloss (BTW it's Buxom, it has a tingle when you put it on...), I saw these super cute nail stickers (not sure what they are really called) and I thought they'd be awesome for Valentine's Day!

I received an awesome gift from my bestie on Thursday!  I've been a little down in the dumps lately, and she got me this super cute necklace to remind me of three simple things that I need no matter what life throws at me.  I have all of these qualities, sometimes I just need to be reminded.  What a cool gift to remind me!! I've gotten several compliments on it!!  LOVE that girl!!!

I registered for the local 5K for the Wounded Warrior Project.  It's almost literally in my back yard, and it's part trail, which makes it super fun!  I love the race, the cause, the people.  100% of the benefits go to the Wounded Warrior Project.  Seriously, a feel good run!  You can get more info here, if your interested!!  And if you sign up, let me know!!!

Last night I was super hungry.  This happens to me after I work out hard the day before.  Since I've turned up the intensity of my workouts, I'm hungry even more often, but I'm craving super good foods this time (with the exception of chocolate yesterday at work.  I was on a rampage, I settled for hot chocolate).  This meal is my "go to" when I have a race or long run on the schedule, it's a pesto, artichoke, feta, tomato, mushroom, and spinach pizza.  It's simply amazing.  I usually eat one, but last night, I needed two to make my belly happy!  Oh so good!!!

I ran today.  It was a nice 46 degrees this morning...where did winter go?  46 degrees for me means SKIRT!!  I bought a running skirt a couple of weeks ago, and I've been DYING to wear it.  Well today was my day!  I'm in love with this skirt for real.  Those undershorts do NOT ride up, so that means NO chafing!!!  I'm in love with a skirt.  I will be buying more soon when it gets warmer!

Did I mention you can call me speedy?  Well yeah.  Go ahead, you can.  I ran today and this happened:

Not sure where this girl came from, could it be the skirt?  The nail polish?  The new necklace?  The pizza last night?  The cross training?  The weights?  I guess I'm gonna have to keep doing what I'm doing, it seems to be paying off!

I want this girl to return on my next run.  I chose a hilly course because I may run the local 10 miler next month which is known for its hills.  I looked down at mile 3 and realized I was keeping a 8:50 pace.  I felt great, when I saw 8:50, I turned up the heat a bit, and then that 8:44 pace happened.  Ummm, yeah, I don't do things like that.

Here are my splits:
1 mile 9:10
2 mile 8:36
3 mile 8:39
4 mile 8:52
5 mile 8:33 <----- who runs an 8:33 pace after 4 miles?  Oh, that'd be me!!  :)
.20 mile 7:54

Ridiculous.  I didn't even know I was capable!

I was super proud of me today.

Do you have a "go to" meal, outfit, nail polish, or any other crazy ritual you do before a race or big run for the weekend?

  1. DAMN! Nice run!!! I was just thinking of you this am, wondering if you were on the bike today. No, you were killing it on your run!

Those nails look so fun. Were they super easy to apply? Do they seem to be staying on?

And that pizza... ugh. Why am I always so hungry?!

    Cute skirt!!! And awesome necklace!

    1. I did kill it!! I'll be getting on the bike tomorrow morning before work, and I'm going to try intervals tomorrow! Exciting!

The nail "stickers" were super easy to put on (you just have to go slow and easy), and they seem to be staying put, I put them on Sunday, and I worked yesterday where I wash my hands a million times a day! No chips, nothing, they still look good and shiny! It was weird at first, they had a tacky like feeling at first, kinda like if you paint your nails and they are almost dry. I went to bed, and they were normal in the morning, so I guess they have to set a bit.

  2. I love your new running skirt! I can't seem to find one that stays put- what brand is yours?

    1. Thanks! It's Luluemon. We have a local store here, but you can buy them online too. I have to say, they are a bit pricey (around $60), but that's not much more than a regular Nike skirt. Well worth the money for sure!!

  3. I love that skirt! I think running skirts look so cute on people but I feel like a huge tool when I wear one, it's a mental block or something.

Nice negative splits on that run!
